SILVANOLIN
SETS IN TWO DAYS, AND DOES NOT WASH OFF!

SILVANOLIN is one of the most environmentally friendly products for protecting wood.It protects wood from fungus, woodworms, and termites. Wood is a natural material that is subject to various biotic and abiotic factors that can lead to decomposition. Abiotic factors are:  wind, water, UV rays, chemicals, gasses, and fire.  These mostly cause only aesthetic harm.
Bioticfactors are organisms that either feed on wood or need it as a means of survival.  These organisms can be separated into three main groups:  insects, bacteria, and fungi.  In our climate belt fungi destroy the most wood.  SILVANOLIN is intended to protect wood from insects and fungi, not against abiotic factors.

INGREDIENTS OF THE PRODUCT:
SILVANOLIN is made up of ingredients that enable optimal protection against fungal decomposition and woodworms and at the same time attaches well to wood and will not wash off.  SILVANOLIN is a water based substance, and therefore safe and easy to use though it may cause contraction and swelling during impregnation.

WOOD MOISTURE CONTENT BEFORE PROTECTION:
The wood must be adequately dry before application.  Prior to impregnation (vaccum/ kettle) wood moisture content must be below 30%, otherwise the product is unable to enter the wood.  We recommend that the wood moisture content be between 15 and 20%.

CHOICE OF WOOD:
The wood must be healthy and without rot or insect damage before treatment.  We recommend SILVANOLIN for the protection of fir, pine, spruce, and larch wood.   Brown stains can occur when used on oak, chestnut, or acacia wood.  These stains do not influence the quality of protection.

TEMPERATURE:
SILVANOLIN must be used between 5 and 35C.  The effectiveness of the product is reduced at lower temperatures

METHODS OF PROTECTION:
SILVANOLIN is appropriate for all methods wood protection (coating, soaking, spraying, pouring, or vacuum impregnation).  The best method is the impregnating kettle (vacuum impregnation).  If soaking the wood, we recommend that the wood is left in the bath for 2-24 hours.

USAGE:
One Kg of SILVANOLIN covers 4-6 m2 of wood surface, depending on the type of wood, growth, surface treatment, and manner of application.  This ratio is achieved by applying two coats with a brush or roller, one coat if spraying, or 15 minutes of immersion in a bath.  In the case of protecting fences or garden furniture, we recommend using a larger amount of SILVANOLIN than on roofing structures.  The active ingredients should penetrate at least 5mm into the wood.  This is achieved by soaking the wood for a longer period of time or using an impregnation kettle.  If the surface of the wood is well workedthe preparation will penetrate slower than if it is more rough.  DO NOT mix with any other water or organic based solvents.  DO NOT DILUTE!

COLOR OF THE WOOD:
The protected wood obtains a greenish hue.  The color of the wood is dependant on the amount of the product applied to the wood.  The more product used, the more the wood becomes green. Wood exposed to UV rays becomes gray with time, which is a natural process and does not affect the quality of the wood.

IMFLAMMABILITY OF THE WOOD:
Protecting wood with SILVANOLIN does not increase the inflammability of wood.  In fact it achieves the opposite affect, due to the presence of pine compounds the treated wood ignites and burns more slowly than unprotected wood.

ADDITIONAL WOODWORKING:
Wood treated with SILVANOLIN can be glued and finished.  Surface coatings take somewhat longer to set.  Before the final finishing of the surface, it is important to check that the glazing is compatible with the treated wood.

PERMANENCE:
SILVANOLIN bonds to the wood and is set in two days (48 hrs) and becomes permanent.  Therefore it is suitable for protecting wood that is exposed to all weather conditions (rain, snow, etc.).

PURPOSE OF USE:
We recommend SILVANOLIN for long-term effective protection of wood such as roofing structures, cabins, garden furniture, pergolas, playgrounds, balcony fences, etc.

DRYING TIME:
SILVANOLIN adheres quickly to wood and DOES NOT WASH OFF. The product is completely set in 48 hours. The recommended time for drying between applications is 3 hours. Wait 48 hours before further treatment (e.g. gluing). If SILVANOLIN is applied through the kettle method or soaking, the bonding occurs faster than if the wood is dry. However, during impregnation the wood also absorbs a significant amount of water, and therefore must be left to dry thoroughly.

STORAGE:
Keep closed in its original container, and out of reach of children and animals.  The product does not expire.

CLEAN-UP:
When finished, all tools can be cleaned with water and detergent.

PACKAGE UNITS:
0.8, 5, 10, 20, 50, 200kg.

SAFE USAGE:
Fire safety measures are not required. When working with SILVANOLIN wear safety clothing and gloves. When spraying, wear eye and mouth protection.
We do not recommend the use of the product on existing roof structures at temperatures below 0 C, since there is a chance of slipping due to the surface being frozen.
